Shravya Markandeya

Job title: Traffic Studies and Design Project Team Leader – Traffic and ITS
Company/organization: CHA Consulting, Inc.
 
As a project team leader, Markandeya leads a team of 13 technical professionals that include traffic engineers, section managers and project managers across the country.  She works closely with the Transportation Business Line leadership and corporate groups such as Human Resources to address her teams’ areas of improvement, training, and staffing levels within the group for effective execution of projects.  In addition, she works closely with the firm’s transportation leadership, business development and client advocacy teams, to formulate and execute comprehensive strategies to support the growth of the traffic group and identify opportunities with new and existing clients.

Most memorable CEE experience: 
“One of my fondest memories from my time at Cornell was the semester I worked for the Town of Ithaca as part of an internship. This opportunity was a fantastic learning experience where I could immediately apply what I was learning in school to a real work situation and bring what I was learning at work to my classes. The internship also gave me the chance to explore the gorgeous City of Ithaca and the surrounding Towns.”
 
Advice on entering the workforce: 
“My advice for graduating students would be to be curious, and open to learning and contributing to different projects. Be authentic; while everyone is working from the same manual, be sure to bring your unique take to everything you work on.”
