M.Eng. Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering – Environmental Engineering Program at a glance
The Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree enhances students’ technical backgrounds through coursework, team projects, and dynamic class discussions.
Our M.Eng. Program in environmental engineering can be completed in two semesters of intensive study. The degree requires 30 credit hours consisting of coursework in major and supporting areas as well as a capstone project.
Each student’s program includes 9-credits of “core” coursework, with the remaining coursework selected to provide a focus area of specialization. We have four focus areas of specialization (Environmental Fluid Mechanics and Hydrology, Environmental Processes, Environmental Water Resources and Systems and Sustainable Energy Systems) and a “build your own focus" that may be tied to a particular career path.
Our curriculum focuses on three main areas: building domain knowledge, advancing your technical toolkit, and developing skills that are desired by employers in a variety of sectors including engineering design and consulting, data analytics and technology innovations, industry and manufacturing, and research and policy analysis. Students learn to identify problems, analyze data, and interpret the results of analyses to inform technical solutions.
