Class year: CEE B.S. '15
Job title: Project Superintendent
Company/organization: The Christman Company in the DC Metro Area
As a superintendent, Jonathan manages and coordinates the work of all the individual trades and helps to solve tough problems as they arise, ensures that projects are complete to the client's satisfaction.
Most memorable CEE experience: “Was definitely the Steel Bridge Project Team. As a member for all four years, I have a ton of wonderful memories and experiences with the team. I met my best friends through the team and was able to apply what I learned in the classroom to a real world application. The experiential learning of designing, fabricating, and constructing a real 20-foot long bridge was, without a doubt, the best thing I ever did at Cornell. I would suggest all students should take part in an engineering project team.”
Advice on entering the workforce: Hrehor’s advice for recent graduates is to never settle. "Don't be afraid to change your mind with what you had originally decided to do after graduation. I know plenty of people that have switched companies, switched careers, or gone back to school, myself included. Don't settle in at a place where you are not happy. Don't be afraid to quit your job if it is not what you expected. Now is the time in your life that you can make a major change without serious repercussions. The best advice that I received from a former boss is to be your own advocate, because nobody else will. If you advocate for yourself, and your boss/company does not value your contributions, find someplace that will.”
