Lauren Feinstein received her Bachelor’s degree in Cornell’s School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and is currently on track to complete her Masters of Engineering here at Cornell as well. Her focus is on Structural Engineering, where her MEng project consists of redesigning the Rolex tower in Dubai.
As an undergraduate, Lauren completed two internships at Lend Lease Construction Management and Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York. During her internship at Lend Lease Construction, Lauren worked on the One57 skyscraper in New York City. Throughout her internships, Lauren gained vital experience with project management in Structural Engineering, from coordinating with sub contractors, working on the site of projects, and quality assurance control.
After completing her undergraduate degree, Lauren worked at McLaren Engineering during the summer before she embarked on an MEng degree. During her time at McLaren, Lauren was able to apply her knowledge from courses to real life situations. Her tasks included working in AutoCAD on the Broadway theater renovations, inspections of Times Square billboards, and various other work in entertainment related structures.
Currently as a Masters of Engineering student, Lauren is working on redesigning the Rolex tower in Dubai for her group project. Designing columns, producing a design for the building, and redesigning the lateral stability are just a few assignments of what the exciting project entails.
Ultimately, Lauren's career goals are to become a structural engineer and to apply her knowledge of structures to the entertainment industry or the sustainable building industry. "My education means a lot to me and I know having a Master's degree will open many doors for me in the future"-Lauren Feinstein.
